Introduction
TRZ Care is steadfast in its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and attaining Net Zero status by 2040. To reach this target, the company is actively focusing on minimizing emissions stemming from operations, including energy use, transportation, and waste management. The comprehensive Carbon Emission Plan sets out a roadmap for refining data collection, monitoring, and annual reporting, with the baseline established from January to December 2022.
In 2022, TRZ Care gathered and evaluated its emissions data across various sources, establishing a total of 27.3668 tCO2e. Notably, Scope 2 emissions, accounting for indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling, amounted to 3.2006 tCO2e. Significant contributions were also made by employee commuting, which totaled 22.0381 tCO2e, representing a major area for potential emission reductions. Waste generated in operations added 2.1281 tCO2e.
In 2023, TRZ Care undertook a more refined approach, distinguishing commuting emissions between healthcare staff and office workers. This led to more accurate data pinpointing: emissions for office commuting were now reported as 1.9987 tCO2e, whilst healthcare commuting fell significantly to 0.7641 tCO2e. Scope 2 emissions were also reduced to 1.3605 tCO2e. Additionally, new categories, such as work-from-home emissions, were introduced, totaling 0.1101 tCO2e.
The total emissions for 2023 reduced significantly to 5.1622 tCO2e, indicating TRZ Care’s continued commitment to refining data accuracy and achieving its sustainability goals.
Commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2040
TRZ Care is dedicated to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040. This plan outlines the steps we will take to reduce our carbon footprint, streamline data collection, and engage with employees, clients, and partners in our commitment to a sustainable and carbon-neutral future. We will regularly review and adjust this plan to ensure we meet our targets and continue to improve our environmental performance.

Current Emissions Distribution 1st Jan – 31st Dec 2023

Zero Emissions reasons
Scope 1 (Direct Emissions): Our business operates within restrictive processes that do not generate direct emissions. As we do not own or control any combustion equipment or facilities, we have no direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, ensuring zero Scope 1 emissions.
Methodology & References
Emissions have been reported and recorded under the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and use the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
Scope 3 (Category 1–4): Our business activities do not contribute to Scope 3 emissions in Categories 1–4, which cover purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel- and energy-related activities (not included in Scope 1 or 2), and upstream transportation and distribution. As these categories involve activities that are outside the core of our business model, our processes do not generate emissions in these areas.
Scope 3 (Category 5 – Waste Generated in Operations): Our rent includes utilities; we currently lack specific data regarding these emissions.
Scope 3 (Category 8–9 – Upstream and Downstream Leased Assets): Our business procedures are limited in these areas, as we do not own or lease significant assets that would contribute to upstream or downstream emissions, ensuring minimal to no emissions in these categories.
Emissions reduction targets
TRZ Care is committed to a gradual, yet significant, reduction in carbon emissions, aiming to achieve Net Zero by 2040. To achieve this target, the following areas of focus have been identified where emissions are currently being recorded. Specific reduction targets have been set to ensure a continuous decrease in emissions over time.
Scope 2: Indirect Emissions (Purchased Electricity, Steam, Heating, and Cooling)
- 2022 Emissions: 3.2006 tCO2e
- 2023 Emissions: 1.3605 tCO2e
- Target: A 50% reduction in Scope 2 emissions by 2030, aiming for full elimination by 2040 through the use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures.
Scope 3: Employee Commuting
- 2022 Emissions: 22.0381 tCO2e
- 2023 Emissions (Healthcare staff): 0.7641 tCO2e
- 2023 Emissions (Office staff): 1.9987 tCO2e
- Target: A 30% reduction in emissions from employee commuting by 2030, through initiatives such as increased support for public transport, carpooling, and remote working policies. Net Zero is expected by 2040.
Scope 3: Business Travel
- 2022 Emissions: 0.00 tCO2e
- 2023 Emissions: 0.9172 tCO2e

Scope 3: Work From Home Emissions
- 2023 Emissions: 0.1101 tCO2e
- Target: Reduce emissions by 25% by 2030 through employee awareness campaigns on energy efficiency while working from home. Net Zero by 2040.
TRZ Care is committed to ongoing monitoring and reporting to ensure steady progress towards achieving these emission reduction targets.
Carbon Reduction Initiatives
To achieve Net Zero by 2040, TRZ Care is implementing key carbon reduction initiatives across all areas of emissions.
For Scope 2 emissions (electricity, steam, heating, and cooling), the company plans to shift to 100% renewable energy sources by 2030. This will include installing solar panels where feasible and sourcing green energy from external suppliers. Energy efficiency measures, such as upgrading heating and cooling systems, will further reduce emissions.
In employee commuting, TRZ Care aims to decrease emissions by promoting remote work and flexible working hours to reduce the need for travel. Additionally, incentives for using public transportation, carpooling, or electric vehicles will be introduced. The company will explore partnerships with local transport services to encourage greener commuting options.
For business travel, TRZ Care will prioritise virtual meetings to minimise air travel. When necessary, sustainable travel options, such as train travel and low-carbon transport, will be encouraged.
In work-from-home emissions, employee awareness campaigns will focus on energy-saving habits, such as switching to energy-efficient appliances and reducing home heating or cooling usage during work hours.
These initiatives will be supported by continuous monitoring and data refinement to ensure TRZ Care stays on track to meet its 2040 Net Zero target.
